2010 ANNUAL REPORT
The operating budget of the Water Authority for 2010 was $4,049,906 and showed a operating income of $513,960 and increase in net assets (before capital contributions) of $278,826. The Water Authority changed water rates to match those of the Erie Water Works for the year 2011.
The Authority additions to the water system in 2010 was $365,736. The Authority spent $275,480 in water projects and Developers contributed $90,256.
The Authority’s water system is supplied primarily by water purchased from the Erie City Water Authority. In 2010 the Authority purchased 740,098,000 gallons or 96% of it’s water from the Erie City Water Authority. The Authority also operates 1 well to supplement its system. The Authority withdrew 29,343,650 gallons of water from the McDowell well. The system contains approximately 112 miles of waterlines ranging in size from 2 inches to 24 inches in diameter. Water pressure is provided by 9 booster stations, 1 well, and 5 water storage tanks.
The Water Authority office staff consists of 7 full time personnel and 1 part time personnel. The Water Authority also has 2 full time inspectors. This Water Authority staff also administers the Millcreek Township Sewer Authority and shares costs with the Sewer Authority. The Township water and sewer crew of 15 men and equipment operate the water system.
The Authority served 7,140 customers in 2010. Customers purchased a total of 742,686,768 gallons of water and sales were $4,018,135. Fairview Township Water Authority purchased 171,230,633 gallons of water and sales were $517,855 in 2010.
Water loss or unaccounted water reported for 2010was 4.48% (34,818,910 gallons). The Authority does not meter water used for fire protection or flushing of water mains. Any water loss less than 10% is considered good.
