The Millcreek Township Water Authority was incorporated in 1974 under the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Municipal Authorities Act of 1945. The Authority was formed to finance, construct, and operate a public water system in Millcreek Township. In 1985 the Water Authority acquired the water system of the Pennsylvania Water Company located in western Millcreek Township and in Fairview Township. The water system in Fairview Township was sold to the Fairview Township Water Authority in 1985.
The Authority’s water system is supplied primarily by water purchased from the Erie City Water Authority. In 2009the Authority purchased 96% of it’s water from the Erie City Water Authority. The Authority also operates 1 well to supplement its system. The system contains approximately 110 miles of waterlines ranging in size from 2 inches to 24 inches in diameter. Water pressure is provided by 10 booster stations, 1 well, and 5 water storage tanks.
Mission Statement
The purpose of the Millcreek Township Water Authority is to acquire, hold, construct, alter, improve, refurbish, enlarge, furnish water works, water supplies, water distribution systems and acquire necessary land for such purposes in the County of Erie, Pennsylvania. It is also the purpose of the Millcreek Township Water Authority to provide for the fire safety and security of Millcreek Township.
The Millcreek Township Water Authority is dedicated to the advancement of the water system within Millcreek Township, as to facilitate the Millcreek Township Supervisors 10 year master plan. The Authority’s goal is also to provide quality service and to establish positive customer and development policies and procedures that meet the goals as defined by the Millcreek Township Supervisors.
The Water Authority Board meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at the Authority conference room at 4:30PM. |
